The diverse menu of degree programs continues to evolve to meet the demands of the regional marketplace. Staff members at each location facilitate the smooth transfer of credits from community colleges and other schools of higher education. A new option for students is the Bachelor of Applied Studies Degree. The BAS degree is for students who have earned associate degrees in fields where their course credit may not readily transfer into an apparent bachelor’s degree program now have the opportunity to complete their four-year degree. The unique structure of the BAS program allows students to focus the degree in the exact area most valuable to them in accomplishing their objectives. With so many areas to choose from, students find it easy to select a field of study to fit with their existing coursework. Among the signatures of BVU’s Professional & Online Studies program is the personalized academic advising and course programming available to every student. All 15 locations provide personal attention to meet the individual needs of each student. Offices at each location are open during the evening to ensure that faculty and staff are available to answer questions and address student concerns regarding admissions, scheduling, financial aid or career advising. Class schedules are tailored to meet the needs of busy nontraditional students. Through the Professional & Online Studies program, students are also able to combine online classes, face-to-face courses and web-based classes to make scheduling even more convenient. This makes it possible for undergraduates with 60 or more credit hours, or an associate’s degree, to earn a bachelor’s degree in as little as two years. Rich Clinesmith, instructor of psychology at the Denison location, notes, “Most of the students I teach come to class after working at their job all day. Since we are local, students do not have to spend a long time traveling to class.” Buena Vista University offers students a wide range of opportunities for academic and professional preparation that enables them to advance in their careers, as well as explore exciting new opportunities. www.bvu.edu/learn | professional@bvu.edu | 1-866-449-7059TRANSFER TIMES . . . making student transferring to colleges and universities easy |
