Who We Are: Oakland City University is located in the rural community of Oakland City, Indiana. OCU stands for academic excellence in a Christian environment. Our faculty and staff place an emphasis on the importance of the individual, by providing the personal attention needed to ensure your success. OCU is a private, Christian liberal arts university that was founded in 1885. The student to faculty ratio is 14:1. About 500 students attend main campus, and our diverse student body represents an average of 16 different countries.
Campus Life: OCU provides events and facilities that contribute to a healthy campus life including intramural sports, student organizations, missions trips, chapel services, a fitness center, residence halls, and housing for married students. As a member of NCAA Division II and NCCAA Division I, OCU offers men’s basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, golf, cross country; and women’s basketball, softball, soccer, tennis, golf, cross country, and volleyball. Pep band and cheerleading are also offered at OCU.
Academics: OCU offers over 40 undergraduate degree programs within the areas of arts and sciences, business, education, and religious studies. Adult, Masters, and Doctorate programs are also available. The Career Services department provides free tutoring and assistance in both resume writing and career placement for all students.
Financial Aid
OCU is among the lowest tuition costs of private universities in Indiana. In 2010-11, OCU provided over $5 million in university-based scholarships and grants to students, in addition to state and federal funds to those who qualified. Ninety-eight percent of the undergraduate students attending main campus received financial aid or scholarships.
