You’re ready to make the switch from your two-year college to finish your degree at a four-year institution, now what? Hanover College has some advice to help you make your decision.
1. Choose a college that offers you challenging coursework and a respected degree.
Hanover is a nationally-ranked, premier liberal arts institution. In all 31 majors, you will benefit from experiential learning opportunities, combined with off-campus study that prepares you for the global job market. Sixty-six percent of our students study off campus every year and a quarter of these students will travel more than once during their studies at Hanover. We have core strengths in three areas:
Business: 100 percent of our Business Scholar students graduate with an individualized project-based internship, a completed research project and extensive business skills training. Plus, all classes are taught by corporate-born faculty who have been extremely successful in the real world
Science: Our unique atmosphere is tailor-made for the study of all the sciences. For students interested in health professions, Hanover offers a 3G Human Patient Simulator and the only Human Cadaver Lab in the state of Indiana for undergraduate student research and dissection. In environmental sciences, we offer 650 acres of outdoor labs, our Rivers Institute, and access to both Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge and Clifty Falls State Park.
Education: As an education student, you’ll receive a specialty degree plus a teaching certificate and first-hand classroom experience in local community classrooms your very first year. In 2010, 100% of our education majors were placed in teaching positions.
2. Work with counselors that will ensure your course transferability. Get one-on-one counseling from Hanover’s admission counselors and the Registrar to get specific answers about how your credits will transfer to our programs and work toward the graduation requirements for your intended major.
3. Look beyond the sticker price. Don’t think a private school education is beyond your reach. U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review consistently rank Hanover College as a top 40 "best value" college nationwide, so you can get the most for your educational dollar. In addition, with a combination of scholarships and need-based aid, you’ll find a Hanover degree is really worth the investment.
4. Start early and visit! It really helps when you take the time to visit. Take a walking tour of our beautiful campus located on the banks of the Ohio River. While you’re here, we’ll arrange an interview with a transfer counselor and a professor who can talk to you about your interests. We also encourage you to come for any of our cultural and social activities, or a game in any of our 17 NCAA athletic sports. Take a look at everything Hanover College has to offer.
