Here are a few highlights:

1. Small classes.
With an 11:1 student to faculty ratio and an average class size of 20, classroom learning is dynamic. Why does this matter? All educational experts — all of them — say that small classes are essential to learning at all levels. You will be alternatively challenged and supported as you need it every day, in every course.

2. The campus.
It’s beautiful, but the real beauty is indoors. Butler has amazing facilities for learning and you’ll have the chance to use them.

3. The liberal arts.
Liberal arts are the core of human learning. As crafted at Butler, these courses exercise your ability to think, feel, evaluate and communicate—essential skills for a job in any field. Professional instruction grounded in the liberal arts will keep your résumé ahead of your competition, not only for your first job, but throughout your career.

4. Experiential learning.
More than 75 percent of our students have internships for credit in Indianapolis while they are enrolled at Butler. These internships connect your Butler education to the “real world,” which really pays off when it’s time to apply for a job.

5. Rankings.
There is no one way to say who’s the best. We recognize, as does all of higher education, that the current rankings reflect the views of college administrators who have never visited the campuses they’re rating. Many of the qualities that drive the rankings are useful to know but it’s the way universities produce results in line with their mission that counts. However, since many students are very interested in rankings, we’ll share ours — Butler was ranked second by U.S. News & World Report in Midwestern Comprehensive Universities and named a “Best Value” by Kiplinger’s.
