Founded in 1857, Lake Forest College is located 30 miles north of Chicago in the historic North Shore suburb of Lake Forest, Illinois. The beautiful 107-acre residential campus is within walking distance to the train to Chicago and a half mile from the shore of Lake Michigan. The College has a reputation for academic excellence and attracts students and faculty from around the world.

Lake Forest offers a rigorous academic environment in small class settings. Ninety-eight percent of professors hold a PhD or equivalent and they do all the teaching – you won’t find teaching assistants at Lake Forest. In addition to strong programs in the humanities, sciences, business, communication, pre-law, and psychology, among others, Lake Forest offers programs of study in contemporary areas such as Asian Studies, social justice, and Islamic World Studies.

A diverse student body, Lake Forest students represent 47states and 71 countries around the world, and international students and students of color comprise more than 25 percent of the student body. More than ninety student groups provide a host of extracurricular opportunities that develop leadership skills and enhance students’ campus experience and post-college prospects.

The Career Advancement Center (CAC) designs programs to motivate and engage students in their career development starting with transfer orientation and continuing beyond graduation. Innovative programs include culturally-focused programs, leadership development, a robust alumni mentor program, and a nationally-recognized computer-matched speed networking event.

With generous financial aid packages, scholarships, and grants, Lake Forest College is surprisingly affordable. Every admitted transfer student who has their Associate of Arts degree and holds current membership in the Phi Theta Kappa international honor society will receive a guaranteed half-tuition scholarship, currently valued at $17,000.
