IIT students have direct access to cutting-edge research opportunities and world-renowned faculty

Illinois Institute of Technology is a private, Ph.D.-granting, research university, with world-renowned programs in engineering, architecture, the sciences, humanities, psychology, business, law, and design. Tracing its roots back to the 1890s, IIT brings a focused, interdisciplinary approach to education and pairs the educational and cultural experiences of Chicago with the small campus feel with an undergraduate population just over 2,500. IIT is committed to providing students a distinctive and relevant experience through hands-on learning, dedicated teachers, small class sizes, and undergraduate research opportunities.

IIT’s unique Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) program is a core part of the curriculum that enables students from all academic disciplines to work as part of interdisciplinary teams solving real-world problems.

The addition of the University Technology Park At IIT (UTP), an incubator for technology companies located on the Main Campus, and the university’s access to more than 29 research facilities, amplifies IIT students’ access to outstanding research opportunities.

The newest addition is the establishment of the Wanger Institute for Energy Research (WISER) that will provide the foundation for a campus-wide energy sustainability effort to create learning opportunities for students and faculty from across academic disciplines. All of these opportunities lead to a 92% placement rate for IIT graduates.
